Olympics 2032 to put the Redlands on world stage

Walker Corporation, the project team behind the renewal of Toondah Harbour, backs the recent commitment by Redland City Council to throw its support behind the promising Brisbane Olympics bid.

Toondah Harbour would be a major drawcard for the Redlands and presents an incredibly unique global opportunity to showcase the best of the region, complementing other proposals such as the proposed adventure sports precinct with an Olympic-standard white-water course.

Redlands Coast cannot afford to fall behind other south-east Queensland regions that will also be making the most of an Olympics and Paralympic Games to broaden their appeal while the eyes of the world are on our region.

Through the revitalisation of Toondah Harbour, we can enhance the lifestyle and economic opportunities for the local community and cement the Redlands as one of the premier waterfront destinations for international visitors.

The next decade would be an incredibly important period for the Redlands Coast if the Olympics bid is successful and we stand ready to play our part in driving employment, economic growth and prosperity for the local community.

Plans for the new Toondah Harbour include a recreation and leisure hub with an adventure park, South Bank-style lagoon and water play area. Other amenities will include walking trails, picnic areas, kayak launching points and fishing spots.

The recreational area will feature an education and cultural centre, while a marina plaza with hotel and boutique retail and dining precinct will provide an alternative place to dine from Brisbane CBD.

A new ferry precinct will cater for the influx of tourists attending the Games, facilitating improved access to the delights of southern Moreton Bay. The upgrade to the ferry terminal would also include an active port promenade, ferry-bus interchange, bicycle facilities and 1,010 car parking spaces for ferry users.
